Why Teaching Trumps Personality

I have a question for you today. Are you trying to be someone you are not on social media? Do you want to grow your business so badly that you try to pretend you are someone you are not? Do you think things like “If I was just a more exciting person then people would be more attracted to my business” or “If I show more enthusiasm that will get people pumped up to join”?

Bottom Line: Teaching is more duplicatable than personality.

If that is you, I want to tell you today that whatever your personality is, just be you. I’m not saying don’t have passion and fire about what you do. Absolutely be excited about your business, but don’t be fake.

People will be more drawn to you being you. You are the only one who can be the best you. Teaching people things that are valuable are much more helpful than a big, bubbly personality. And in the long term, people will appreciate valuable information to help them grow a successful  business more than excitement and all the rah rah. So just be you.

Now if you are naturally super energetic and your personality is fun and loud, then use that. But for those of us who aren’t, don’t fake it, just be you.

Have you some big leaders in the industry, they are so excited and loud and you just want to be them because they seem so fun and people just flock to them?

I used to think that if I was only more exciting, more adventurous, more visibly passionate, that would draw people to me. But really, just being you works. And being yourself is so much more duplicatable.

Two reasons why teaching is better than personality.

  1. You come off as fake sometimes when you try to be something that is not natural to you.
  2. Others cannot duplicate your personality. You are you. They are them. They need to know it’s OK to be themselves. You can teach them to teach and give valuable information. You cannot teach personality. It’s not duplicatable.

So the best way to grow your team is to teach them to teach with their own God given personality. Information is valuable in network marketing, teaching skill sets and strategies is much more duplicatable and honestly much more appealing in the long run.

Excitement wears off, but skill sets and strategies is what will get you to the top and help your team get to the top. So teach, and teach them to teach. Be excited and passionate, but not fake.

Giving people solutions to their problems is much more helpful that getting them excited about you. Be real, be you. Teach your people to be themselves. Your business will grow and you won’t feel like a fake and that you have to be someone you are not.

To your success,

Home Business Help: How to Switch from Spamming to Adding Value on Facebook

Would you like to know how to post on Facebook to grow your health and wellness business without looking like a slimy salesperson?

Example topic “5 of the most toxic household products in your home”

I know many of my friends are in some type of health and wellness company, as am I, and I have been asked recently what is the best way to do a Facebook Live to get people interested in your company without making it a sales pitch or giving away the company name or specific product name.  Also, I have been asked how to look like a professional network marketer instead of everyone else who is out there blasting their product and opportunity all over social media.

So today, in the video above, I wanted to basically give you a Facebook Live idea you could do to gain interest and attract people to you without you looking like you are just pitching something. The answer is Value. Value is what you need to be giving on social media every day. The marketplace pays for value.

So today’s post is on a health and wellness topic to hopefully help educate some about the dangers of toxins in our homes, but also as an example of what you could do to add value, attract potential customers, all without giving the company or product name away and not looking salesy. Does that make sense? I hope so.

If you are in health and wellness, you could do a Facebook Live and give healthy living tips, or recipes, or exercise ideas, or how to live a toxin free life. There are so many ways to promote your business online without “promoting” your business. Tips and information like that is very valuable to many people.

For instance, I am also in the health and wellness niche, so what I talked about today in the above video is “5 of the most toxic household products in your home”, with two purposes, to educate people on the dangers of toxins in our homes, but also to show the health and wellness network marketer or any network marketer really, that you can absolutely talk about what you do without spamming or pitching your products..

So a good Facebook live, has an intro, question, content, and then a call to action. So here are some examples.

Intro :

Hey this is Genean Roberts. Thanks for jumping on with me to learn about ways to improve your health. (That’s it, Short and Sweet)

Question:

Did you know that Americans spend between 80-90% of their time inside, and that the average American home contains over 63 hazardous products that are damaging our bodies?

Content:

Today I want to give you a list of 5 of those Household Products to absolutely avoid because they are highly toxic and terrible for your body. You may or may not be surprised, but these are some of the biggest contributors to toxins in your home. We breathe in chemical vapors and we absorb chemicals into our skin every time we use these products.

  1. Bleach – bleach can damage the lungs when inhaled causing permanent respiratory damage. So for all of you who mop in bleach, you are damaging your body with serious toxins.
  2. Laundry detergent. All of those good smelling scents of gain and tide and every other store bought detergent is killing your body. Cancer causing agents as well as endocrine disrupters, they mess with your body’s hormones.
  3. Dryer Sheets – dryer sheets have been labeled one of the most dangerous items in your home. So every time your dryer is on and your house gets full of that fabric softener scent, you are putting cancer causing chemicals into your body. Not to mention they absorb into your skin through your clothes later.
  4. Candles- This is a biggie. Scented candles put very dangerous chemicals into the air. So therefore, your pumpkin spice, your apple pie, your clean linen are all killing you. They are made with petrochemicals, which are linked to increased cancer risk, birth defects and allergies.
  5. Finally, deodorant. Store bought deodorants are very dangerous, full of aluminum, and are linked to breast cancer and other diseases.

Call to action:

Our family has been on a health journey for the past couple of years and have been able to eliminate most of the chemicals completely from our home and bodies. There are many more dangers in the home but I just wanted to give you a few today.

What if there were healthy alternatives that worked just as well, but were actually healthy for your bodies and would actually promote a healthier living environment? For the same price as you are paying for at the grocery store, If there were, would you be open to learning more?  If so, simply comment below or message me and I will be glad to share what I know with you.

So there you go. A facebook live within a FB live. It’s like inception.

To your success,

Are You Emotionally Attached to the Outcome?

To have a successful business, we have to stop letting our emotions run our businesses. Are you attached to the outcome of each prospect? Do you stress over whether they say yes or no? If so, watch this video and read on.

If you are in a home business and have been for any amount of time, I am sure you have dealt with what I am talking about today. Being attached to the outcome of whether your prospect says yes or no. Fear of rejection in a home business is one of the toughest things to get over, but you have to if you want to succeed.

We all deal with people saying no. That’s just how it is. Not everyone wants what you have. And you will get plenty of no’s. My question to you is will you let that stop you, will you let make you quit?

Or…Will you rise up and develop into the business owner you need to be to make it happen?

Let me tell you about me a few years ago compared to me today. When I first started in this industry, I was excited and assumed everyone else would be too. I assumed people would love what I had to offer and jump on the chance to get it because it was wonderful right?

Isn’t that how you feel about your product or service for those of you in a home business? You don’t know how anyone could tell you no.  But they do. And then you get discouraged. And your feelings get hurt right?

And you think about quitting or you do what I did and jump to a different company. And then when that doesn’t work you jump to another company, when in reality the issue is your mindset. It was my mindset. And it was my lack of skills, and it was my fear of rejection.

Fast forward to today. I am no longer emotionally attached to the outcome. I realize that what I do is not for everyone and people are going to say no, a lot. But if you can get past that, and keep going, doing the activity and focusing on the activity and not the result, then things start to change.

When you are emotionally attached to the outcome, you will get upset every time someone tells you no and you will feel like a failure.

So here is what you have to do.

You have to stay consistent.

You have to do the income producing activities daily without being attached to the result.

You have to train your mind to focus on the positive, which means listening to or reading personal development daily.

And  you have to keep going and never give up.

Take the emotions out of prospecting and prospecting gets much easier. The choice is yours. If you want to break past the barriers that are holding you back, stop letting your feelings run your business.

If you have not read “Go for No”, then that’s a great place to start. Learning that nos are good because they get you to the yeses. So go out there today in your home business and shoot for a bunch of nos and don’t let yourself be emotionally attached to that outcome. That’s when the yeses will start coming.

If you are in a home business, you can get free training right here at geneanroberts.com. If you are not in a network marketing business but are looking for somewhere you can call home, then comment below or email me at geneanroberts@live.com and I will be glad to share what I do with you.

Either way, keep going and take your feelings out of it and see what happens.

To your success,

3 Highly Effective Facebook Posts For Network Marketing

For anyone in a health and wellness home business: 3 of the best kinds of posts to do on Facebook to look like a professional network marketer and get people interested in your health and wellness business.

First of all, to everyone who is posting their product and name of their business all over Facebook, it’s spam. It’s actually against Facebook policy to do that. But most of all, it makes you look bad. I have learned that branding yourself works so much better than branding the company or the products. A professional brands themselves and adds value on Social Media, an amateur does sales pitches all the time. There’s a big difference.

But, there are ways to post on social media to get attention for your business without posting the company product or the company name or sounding like a sleazy salesman.

I have 3 kinds of posts that you can make on Facebook to get people interested in your product or service or business opportunity.

  1. Value posts. This is a big deal. If all you are doing is pitching your product or service, you may get a few, but you won’t do as well long term if all you’re doing is pitching. So do posts that are valuable. And you can do that without posting your company name or your product or service. These can be motivational quotes, tips on something related to your niche. For instance if you have a weight loss product you can give tips on how to lose weight or how to eat healthier and then at the end of the post, do a call to action which could be as simple as “message me if you want to learn more”, or “comment below and I will send you more of these tips”. You are providing value. No one feels like you are trying to sell them something, and you are drawing interest. They’ll get curious. People are nosy, right? So start posting value and see the difference it makes.
  2. Recognition posts – If someone rank advances in your team, upline or downline, recognize them. You can say something like “Sally just ranked up and got her $500 bonus and is now on track to hit her next rank soon. Message me if you want to learn how you can do this too.” Or something like “Congrats to Suzie for earning her Cadillac today” (or whatever company car your business offers if it does, I know many do) But you can recognize people’s accomplishments while attracting new prospects to you without ever saying the company or product name.
  3. Story posts. Testimonials. These are a great way to draw interest. People love a good story. So gather stories. I am sure your company has tons of testimonials, either on the products or the business. Use other people’s stories until you have your own. You can do that also without using the company name. For example. “Suzie lost 25 in 3 months on our super shake”, or “John was able to ditch his blood pressure meds after only 3 months using one simple product. Message me if you want to learn more”. No mention of company name or product and it gets people interested. Then you can connect with them on Messenger and build rapport, and see if what you have is a good fit for them.

So there you go. 3 ways to build interest on Facebook without doing a constant sales pitch which is super annoying, just sayin. I hope it was helpful. Now get out there and make it happen!

3 Concrete Ways to Succeed in Your Home Business Even If Your Upline Doesn’t Help

When your up-line doesn’t help you or quits…what do you do?

This is something that I have heard so many people complain about. First of all, I want to explain a term for those of you who may not know. Up-line. If you are in network marketing you should know the term but just in case I wanted to explain myself. That is the person that signed you up in a network marketing business. You are their down-line and part of their organization/team.

Some of the things I have heard from other network marketers is this. They say either their up-line doesn’t really help them or their up-line quit or their up-line is too busy to take time to help them grow their business.

Ok, I have an answer  for you. So my answer for that is this. This is your home business, you and only you are in charge of making it work. Your success is not dependent on your upline’s help. Your success is all you. It’s all you.

So many people get in and they think that someone else is going to make them successful. It does not work that way. Now, I do think leaders in a company should support and guide their people, but it doesn’t always happen and so many times people kind of get left to figure it out on their own. But that honestly is OK because like I said, it’s your business. Your success ultimately is really up to you, not them.

Network marketing is hard work and you are the absolute only one who determines your success or failure. So if you are blaming your upline for your failure, you need to take hard look in the mirror and get over yourself. Blaming them is an excuse.

So today I have 3 tips for those of you who may not have an up-line person who really supports you or maybe is just not there when you feel they should be.

  1. Like I said before, Get Over Yourself , and realize that your success or failure in your home business is on you. No one else. But the great part about that is that you have a choice to do better and make it happen. That’s your choice.
  2. Plug into training and communities that are positive and encouraging. There are so many home business trainers online that are not company specific that you can plug in to and get really good training from. Two great options are Ray Higdon or Eric Worre. They are great industry trainers that can teach you how to succeed. Also if there are Facebook groups for your specific company join them and learn in there as well. Most network marketing companies have large Facebook groups you can join and learn from also.
  3. Finally, if you feel like you don’t really have a leader leading you, Become the leader. Become the leader. Step up, get trained, and step out as a leader to others so that they don’t come in feeling the same way you do.

So 3 things, get over yourself and make the decision to succeed without them, plug into training. There are tons of free training all over the inter webs, and then step up and become that leader you wish you had.

So, one last thing. If you are not currently in a network marketing company or not happy where you are, I would love to share what I do with you. So comment below or message me at http://www.facebook.com/geneanrobertsbiz to get more info about joining my team. It may or may not be a good fit, but you can at least check it out.
