Why Teaching Trumps Personality

I have a question for you today. Are you trying to be someone you are not on social media? Do you want to grow your business so badly that you try to pretend you are someone you are not? Do you think things like “If I was just a more exciting person then people would be more attracted to my business” or “If I show more enthusiasm that will get people pumped up to join”?

Bottom Line: Teaching is more duplicatable than personality.

If that is you, I want to tell you today that whatever your personality is, just be you. I’m not saying don’t have passion and fire about what you do. Absolutely be excited about your business, but don’t be fake.

People will be more drawn to you being you. You are the only one who can be the best you. Teaching people things that are valuable are much more helpful than a big, bubbly personality. And in the long term, people will appreciate valuable information to help them grow a successful  business more than excitement and all the rah rah. So just be you.

Now if you are naturally super energetic and your personality is fun and loud, then use that. But for those of us who aren’t, don’t fake it, just be you.

Have you some big leaders in the industry, they are so excited and loud and you just want to be them because they seem so fun and people just flock to them?

I used to think that if I was only more exciting, more adventurous, more visibly passionate, that would draw people to me. But really, just being you works. And being yourself is so much more duplicatable.

Two reasons why teaching is better than personality.

  1. You come off as fake sometimes when you try to be something that is not natural to you.
  2. Others cannot duplicate your personality. You are you. They are them. They need to know it’s OK to be themselves. You can teach them to teach and give valuable information. You cannot teach personality. It’s not duplicatable.

So the best way to grow your team is to teach them to teach with their own God given personality. Information is valuable in network marketing, teaching skill sets and strategies is much more duplicatable and honestly much more appealing in the long run.

Excitement wears off, but skill sets and strategies is what will get you to the top and help your team get to the top. So teach, and teach them to teach. Be excited and passionate, but not fake.

Giving people solutions to their problems is much more helpful that getting them excited about you. Be real, be you. Teach your people to be themselves. Your business will grow and you won’t feel like a fake and that you have to be someone you are not.

To your success,

Are You Emotionally Attached to the Outcome?

To have a successful business, we have to stop letting our emotions run our businesses. Are you attached to the outcome of each prospect? Do you stress over whether they say yes or no? If so, watch this video and read on.

If you are in a home business and have been for any amount of time, I am sure you have dealt with what I am talking about today. Being attached to the outcome of whether your prospect says yes or no. Fear of rejection in a home business is one of the toughest things to get over, but you have to if you want to succeed.

We all deal with people saying no. That’s just how it is. Not everyone wants what you have. And you will get plenty of no’s. My question to you is will you let that stop you, will you let make you quit?

Or…Will you rise up and develop into the business owner you need to be to make it happen?

Let me tell you about me a few years ago compared to me today. When I first started in this industry, I was excited and assumed everyone else would be too. I assumed people would love what I had to offer and jump on the chance to get it because it was wonderful right?

Isn’t that how you feel about your product or service for those of you in a home business? You don’t know how anyone could tell you no.  But they do. And then you get discouraged. And your feelings get hurt right?

And you think about quitting or you do what I did and jump to a different company. And then when that doesn’t work you jump to another company, when in reality the issue is your mindset. It was my mindset. And it was my lack of skills, and it was my fear of rejection.

Fast forward to today. I am no longer emotionally attached to the outcome. I realize that what I do is not for everyone and people are going to say no, a lot. But if you can get past that, and keep going, doing the activity and focusing on the activity and not the result, then things start to change.

When you are emotionally attached to the outcome, you will get upset every time someone tells you no and you will feel like a failure.

So here is what you have to do.

You have to stay consistent.

You have to do the income producing activities daily without being attached to the result.

You have to train your mind to focus on the positive, which means listening to or reading personal development daily.

And  you have to keep going and never give up.

Take the emotions out of prospecting and prospecting gets much easier. The choice is yours. If you want to break past the barriers that are holding you back, stop letting your feelings run your business.

If you have not read “Go for No”, then that’s a great place to start. Learning that nos are good because they get you to the yeses. So go out there today in your home business and shoot for a bunch of nos and don’t let yourself be emotionally attached to that outcome. That’s when the yeses will start coming.

If you are in a home business, you can get free training right here at geneanroberts.com. If you are not in a network marketing business but are looking for somewhere you can call home, then comment below or email me at geneanroberts@live.com and I will be glad to share what I do with you.

Either way, keep going and take your feelings out of it and see what happens.

3 Concrete Ways to Succeed in Your Home Business Even If Your Upline Doesn’t Help

When your up-line doesn’t help you or quits…what do you do?

This is something that I have heard so many people complain about. First of all, I want to explain a term for those of you who may not know. Up-line. If you are in network marketing you should know the term but just in case I wanted to explain myself. That is the person that signed you up in a network marketing business. You are their down-line and part of their organization/team.

Some of the things I have heard from other network marketers is this. They say either their up-line doesn’t really help them or their up-line quit or their up-line is too busy to take time to help them grow their business.

Ok, I have an answer  for you. So my answer for that is this. This is your home business, you and only you are in charge of making it work. Your success is not dependent on your upline’s help. Your success is all you. It’s all you.

So many people get in and they think that someone else is going to make them successful. It does not work that way. Now, I do think leaders in a company should support and guide their people, but it doesn’t always happen and so many times people kind of get left to figure it out on their own. But that honestly is OK because like I said, it’s your business. Your success ultimately is really up to you, not them.

Network marketing is hard work and you are the absolute only one who determines your success or failure. So if you are blaming your upline for your failure, you need to take hard look in the mirror and get over yourself. Blaming them is an excuse.

So today I have 3 tips for those of you who may not have an up-line person who really supports you or maybe is just not there when you feel they should be.

  1. Like I said before, Get Over Yourself , and realize that your success or failure in your home business is on you. No one else. But the great part about that is that you have a choice to do better and make it happen. That’s your choice.
  2. Plug into training and communities that are positive and encouraging. There are so many home business trainers online that are not company specific that you can plug in to and get really good training from. Two great options are Ray Higdon or Eric Worre. They are great industry trainers that can teach you how to succeed. Also if there are Facebook groups for your specific company join them and learn in there as well. Most network marketing companies have large Facebook groups you can join and learn from also.
  3. Finally, if you feel like you don’t really have a leader leading you, Become the leader. Become the leader. Step up, get trained, and step out as a leader to others so that they don’t come in feeling the same way you do.

So 3 things, get over yourself and make the decision to succeed without them, plug into training. There are tons of free training all over the inter webs, and then step up and become that leader you wish you had.

So, one last thing. If you are not currently in a network marketing company or not happy where you are, I would love to share what I do with you. So comment below or message me at http://www.facebook.com/geneanrobertsbiz to get more info about joining my team. It may or may not be a good fit, but you can at least check it out.

Network Marketing Mistakes We All Make and How to Stop

So I have not been live on Facebook in two weeks. 2 weeks! And only two or three times the entire month of February too! For months prior, I did a Facebook Live almost every day. Some of the “reason” I have not is because the flu hit me for quite a few days. But that’s not good enough. I did have the flu but the last 5-6 days I have been fine, not to mention the few weeks before that when I did not do much when it came to Facebook Live or writing in my blog. I’ve just been putting off things I need to do, such as doing Facebook Lives and writing here. That has to stop, so here I am. A few weeks later. Wanting to kick myself, but giving myself some grace and getting back to work. So, I decided I wanted to talk to you for just a few minutes about distractions and lack of motivation and what it does to our success in business, because I know that most of you go through the same thing I have.

Isn’t it funny how we get off track just a little and it’s so hard to get back on track? The same goes with a lot of things doesn’t it? Like our health, eating right and exercising. We can be so motivated and working hard toward our goals and then life happens. And we have the hardest time getting back on track. It also happens in our businesses and other things we do. So for me, the last few weeks really, it was starting before I got the flu, I have had a lack of motivation and I have been letting distractions determine my day.

The only way to keep that from happening is through commitment and consistency. But how do you push through a slump in your business? You know what I mean? A slump, where you just don’t want to do the work, you maybe have lost motivation, you are not being as consistent as you should be, you may be procrastinating, and you are letting distractions pull you in every direction. A slump.

I wanted to give you 3 easy things to really keep you on track or get you back on track in your business. These are things that have helped me when I have gotten off track, like these last few weeks.

  1. Daily to-do list. You need to write down your business priorities in order of importance. Putting it on paper is important. Write out your daily, weekly and monthly goals along with what you need to do each day to hit them. Whether that is to prospect 10 people a day on Facebook, or call 10 people a day, or send out daily email to your list, whatever income producing activities you need to do for your business, write them down in order of importance. This does not include scrolling Facebook or organizing your desk. Income producing activities.
  2. Set business hours. You have a home business. It should be treated the same way a traditional business is. Every professional business has business hours right? So set hours for your business and then whatever you wrote down on your priority list from number 1, do those things during those times.
  3. Personal Development. This has changed my thinking in so many ways. We are surrounded by so much negativity in life. We have to put things in our minds that change how we think and how we live. If we want to be successful and live a positive, happy life, we need to put positive in our minds. We have all heard garbage in, garbage out. What we put into our minds comes back out into our lives. So make sure you are filling your minds with positive things every day. Read or listen to some type of personal development daily.

There are many ways to manage your time effectively and to get your motivation back if you’ve lost it. But these are my go-to’s that help me. So, write down your to-do list, set your hours and listen or read personal development daily.

This will help your home business grow and you will see greater success using these steps.

Time Management for a Home Business

Do you have a hard time keeping a schedule for your home business and managing your time well? If so, you are not alone! Last month was a bad time management month for me, and it showed in my business. So today I want to talk for just a minute about what I am doing differently in hopes that it might help someone else.

Time Management and doing Income producing activities– I have totally sucked at this lately.

I have been super busy trying to learn new skills, write an eBook and email course, and implement everything as I learn new marketing techniques, and my time management has been terrible because of it. And it shows.

When you do not practice good time management skills, time gets away from you. You end up wasting more time instead of doing income producing activities that grow your business. And you stall your business growth. Because you cannot be laser focused and do a great job when you are trying to do 50 different things. So I am here to admit that I was trying to do way too much instead of focusing on a couple things, which made me inconsistent and lack diligence in my business. I was trying to learn and do too many things and it seriously hindered my success last month. If that is you too, I have good news. This is a new day and a new month to start over and do better.

So here 3 main things I am going to focus on for this new month and I think it might be helpful for you as well.

  1. Focus on talking to people about your business. That’s where the money is. Focus on people. Everything else can be extra after you’ve talked to people each day. Set a goal. My goal is to call, message, or in some way talk to 20 people a day about my business. Yours does not have to be that many or it may be more. But just set a goal of how many you are going to talk to and stay consistent.
  2. Set a schedule for the hours you will work. This is so important. All businesses need to have scheduled work hours. If not, you will either not do anything, or you will be like I was in last month, feeling like I was working constantly. Set a schedule. You may not be able to stick to it completely, but set it and get as close to that schedule as possible each day. My red personality type tends to be a workaholic and I really have to reign it in sometimes and cut back or it gets out of control.
  3. An important thing to remember is that God gave you the desire to succeed. Maybe you are in a home business and you have tried multiple businesses, been in for years with no real success, or maybe you are brand new but have a strong desire to do this. Either way, God gave you that desire. You have a desire to succeed. All humans have a desire to succeed in something, but we get so bogged down with “reality” that we lose hope in those dreams, whatever they may be. I am here to tell you today that if you are in a home business and have a burning desire to make it work, God placed that desire there and has a plan and purpose for that desire in you. He can use it to reach so many people. He wants to see you succeed, but you have to do the work, follow directions and walk in that calling. It took me many years to see that, but I now know God has a plan and purpose for me and for my business. He does for you too. Rise up and walk in it starting today! He will not let you fall if you keep your eyes on Him.

One last thing. I am so excited. My eBook and Email Course went live today on Amazon. So, if you are a woman in network marketing and you need more belief, need more direction, need to know that God wants you to succeed and will guide you in it, then you need this eBook and email course. You can get the EBOOK HERE . I believe it will bless you and help you to take the steps to grow your business with belief and passion with God getting all the glory. That’s my prayer is that God gets all the glory for everything I do in business, and that through business others will come to know and love my God.
