Are you in a network marketing company that you love and believe in? Are you struggling to get anyone else to join or buy your product? Did you know that almost all network marketers go through the same exact struggle?

Maybe it’s because the old ways just don’t work anymore. The Amway days of door to door sales, Fax blasting, and cold calling are no longer as effective for prospecting, at least they haven’t worked very well for me and many others I have known over the years.

Alright, so there are a few who actually make it to the top by talking to family and friends, going out and prospecting strangers and cold calling leads. But very few. And it takes a long time to build a business this way with a lot of work.

This is the age of the internet, friends. Everything is done online now. We shop online, we talk online, most people spend more time online talking to people than they do in real life. What does that tell you for your business? You are going to find the people online!

We have to go where the people are, right? You are going to find them hanging out on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat, Linked In, and other social media sites. That’s where you need to prospect. However, there are some very specific strategies you need to learn to be able to attract these people to you instead of feeling like you are constantly chasing them.  There are many effective ways to get these people coming to you!

How to Build Rapport With Your New Leads

If you don’t know what rapport means, it is simply building a relationship with someone. Asking questions to a prospect and finding their need is rapport. Many trainers teach that you should build rapport with your prospect before asking if they are open to your product or service. This is completely true, online or offline. You have to build a foundation. But…don’t stay there too long.

It is a business right? And you are in business to make sales correct? OK. So build the rapport, be sincere, find their needs, and then offer the solution. Also, don’t take it personal if they don’t get started. Your product or service is not for everyone, regardless of what your up-line tells you. It’s just not. Don’t take rejection personally, and also follow up again in a month or so.

It took me many years of training to understand the importance of building the rapport. Seriously, I am a slow learner! Don’t be like me. Start learning how to build rapport now and master it! It will pay you a lot of money later!

2 Biggest Platforms for Attraction Marketing – Blogging and FB Live

Blogging is the big dog that has been around the longest. However, blogging is slower growth. You should definitely do a blog, and post regularly, but you need to find other ways to market as well. Blogging consistently every single week will build your subscriber list and your influence online. But it is a slower process than other methods.

The hottest thing right now for getting fast leads is Facebook Live. Going live on FB gets a higher organic reach of leads, and people are more likely to click on a live video rather than a recorded one. They are also more likely to watch a live video than read a post, especially a long post.

So those are 2 great ways to start building your list of leads online, blogging for long term growth and FB Live for quicker leads. Both are great and both will grow your business.

How to Close All Personality Types in Your MLM

I’m a red. There, I said it. I am a red personality type. That means I am motivated by a challenge, money and power. Doesn’t that sound terrible? But that is how God made me and I am grateful for the leader He is shaping me into daily.

I want to talk to you today about the 4 different personality types and how each one fits into Network Marketing and what motivates them to success. What motivates one personality does not at all motivate another. I used to think that everyone who showed interest in my opportunity was interested in making a lot of money and growing to the top of the organization. That’s just not true for everyone. It was true for me because I am a red personality type, so therefore, I assumed it was the same for everyone. And that seriously limited me in my business. Knowing how to interact with each of the four personality types is vital to your recruiting efforts!

We’ve all heard that building a home based business is all about relationships. And that’s very true. However, if we are beginning these relationships with assumptions, we will kill the sprout before it gets a chance to grow.  The more you know about the different personality types, the better you will become at building your team. You will learn that what motivates some will run off others.

The biggest skill you need to master IF you want more results in your home business is LISTENING. Most of us LOVE to talk. We talk and talk and talk, mostly about ourselves. Real success comes from learning how to SHUT UP AND LISTEN.

Those that suck simply fail to listen. They try to vomit their opportunity all over their prospects without finding out what the person really wants or needs. You have to learn to solve people’s problems before you can recruit them. Lead with something valuable which is sincerity and value, not your product or service.

If we learn to relate to each and give them what they want, we will have no problem getting to the top. Here are the 4 personalities, what drives them, and how to relate to them a little better.

Yellow Personality Type

Yellows make up 1/3 of the population. They care about other people and are always wanting to help.

They are driven by helping others and making a difference in the world. They are givers, who if they believe in something strongly enough, will build it to the top. Don’t, I repeat DO NOT, go after them with the concept of how much money they can make. They simply don’t care. It needs to be about a cause or helping others.

How To Recruit Yellows

They don’t want to be sold. They don’t like pushy, aggressive people.  They need a slower pace and for you to contain your excitement. They see excitement and hype as salesy and not attractive. Focus on how many lives they can help change by joining your team. They love testimonies of families lives changed because of a home business. Tell stories you know about others. Don’t focus on the money, focus on the freedom and helping others.

Blue Personality Type

Blues are ALL about fun. My husband is a blue and it has taken years for us to get on the same page. Most blues in MLM are jumpers, going from one business to the next. They LOVE change and adventure. They are the ones who are the life of the party and always want to be the center of attention. These are some of the planet’s most creative people.  They don’t need or want all the details.  They just want to know if the business will be fun, so it’s OK to show excitement with these guys!

How To Recruit Blues
They want things to happen quickly. They are the perfect people if your business is set up to have parties. They are the party crowd who love being around as many people as possible. They, similar to Yellows, don’t really care about comp plan. They just want to know if it’s fun. So talk excited, get excited, and they will get excited. They love to travel, so tell them all about any company trips you may have with your business.

Green Personality Type
This is my secondary after red. These are my people. They love details and statistics and can appreciate a good spreadsheet and schedule. They’re the analytical people. A downfall is that we will over analyze.  They work well with a complicated compensation plan. They love reviewing the comp plan and going over the details of how the business works.

How To Recruit Greens
Greens think they are the smartest people on the planet. I can’t say I disagree. Haha. They want ALL the details. You are NOT going to sell them something without them asking a ton of questions. They’ll want to research the web site, they’ll listen to the conference call and then they may do it again before FINALLY deciding. Give them time. Let me research. Answer all their questions.  Let Greens analyze the details at THEIR own pace.

Red Personality Type
Reds are the best! Uh, well we are. Reds are money-motivated, money-focused, love a challenge and want to have control.  Don’t bother talking to them about your family or your vacation. They don’t care. They want to make money and make it fast. They want to know about any shortcuts. They also want to know who the top earners are so that they can make a plan to make $1 more than that person. They need control and power. They are the best leaders and if trained correctly, your absolute best distributors.

 How To Sponsor A Red
Money, money and more money. They want to know about the money and the ranks. They’re just looking for producers, somebody who will build, build, build.  They are probably the easiest to recruit.

All personality types can be recruited by all personality types. It just takes a little training and tweaking in your prospecting. Be sincere, but lead with what is important to them. Lead with what motivates them. Don’t lead with what motivates you or you will only recruit your personality type. Now, get out there and build your business like a pro!

3 Tips on How to Handle It When Your Prospect is a Turd

If you have ever been in Network Marketing for any amount of time, you will find out rather quickly that not everyone is pleasant and some are down right mean. Whether you are working leads you generate on your blog, calling paid leads, talking to leads on social media, hanging flyers, or however you promote your opportunity, you will encounter turds.

Turds are the people who crap on your dreams. They are negative, and they have negative things to say about our industry. They will make you think about quitting, and they can kill your confidence if you are new in the network marketing world.

Jim Rohn is one of my all time favorite personal development speakers. One of my favorite things that he said was when he was talking about his mentor, My Shoaff. He says that Mr. Shoaff told him in his early days of building his business that there are only a few really mean people in the world, they just move around a LOT.  Haha. This helped him to gain a greater perspective. After that, if someone was mean to him, he would just tell himself there are just a few more out there like you and he would move on.

We have to be able to protect ourselves against turds! Don’t give these turds the power to destroy your business! (If you cannot tell by now, I just like saying the word turd. Don’t judge me!)

Let me help you with 3 ways to stop the turds from killing your business.

  1. Personal Development – Mindset really is everything. You cannot change the turd, but you can change you. Dive into personal development DAILY. I know you hear that all the time and you are probably tired of hearing that. I was too before I got serious and starting committing time to listen or read daily. Over time, my confidence grew, my belief grew, and my business started to grow. This is not optional if you really want to be able to succeed. A few of my favorite options are Jim Rohn, Dani Johnson, Joseph McClendon and Ray Higdon.
  2. Don’t take it personal. Some people are just against network marketing because they don’t understand the power and value of the industry. They are still stuck on the assumption that all are pyramid schemes. That’s their issue, not yours. Keep growing your business and they may come around later, they may not. Either way, just keep moving forward. Leave the turd behind in his cubicle while your grow your dreams.
  3. Whatever you do, do NOT get defensive. You will come across as desperate and needy and very unprofessional. Defensiveness will kill your shot at ever getting that sale. And it is a low-level of leadership. Rise up, stand tall and just move on. Some will, some won’t, so what….Move on.

Sometimes turds change. Sometimes they join later. I have seen experienced it. People who make fun of you for being in Network Marketing, they talk about how the prices are too high, how no one ever really makes money doing these types of things. Then, later on, they joined my business. Not everyone will, but if you stand strong, be professional and keep your posture, some will come around.

For the turds who don’t, flush them and move on.

Attraction Marketing and FB Lives: How to Have Enough Courage and Content To Do Them Often

How in the world could you ever come up with enough things to talk about 5 days a week on Facebook Live without constantly repeating yourself? And how do you summon up enough courage to go live in front of the world for the first time?

 1.     Jump in. So many people I talk to are terrified of going live on FB. They let fear control them and they refuse to even try. Do it afraid! Do you think that it’s easy for anyone? Everyone started somewhere. Even the big online gurus who look like they have it all together had to start somewhere. Whether that was on Facebook or on a stage or wherever, everyone has to do it afraid the first time. That’s the only way you can do it a second and third time. And guess what? It gets easier. Not only that, but you get better. That’s right! So suck it up, press that live button, and just do it. 

2.     Provide Value to the Marketplace. You need to research relevant material that can add value to someone else. Do not pitch your product or company. That is not how you build an audience or grow a business. People know when they are being sold and they step back when they feel that a sales pitch is coming. Google and find what others in the industry are talking about and follow their lead. Read current MLM blog posts and network marketing blog posts to get ideas. (I said ideas, do not plagiarize, that’s not cool at all) People pay for value. What value are you currently bringing?

3.     Make a list of things to talk about. I love lists! Many people don’t like making lists, but lists are very valuable. As you get ideas for FB Lives, or even blogs posts, write it down. Trust me, you will likely forget if you don’t. So after you research what others are doing, select one topic each day for a live and have 3 points that go along with the topic. Then just discuss when live.

4.     Keep it simple. Doing a FB Live does not have to be complex and you don’t have to know it all. People want to learn from people who are real. They want to learn from those who have had struggles. Don’t hide those struggles and try to act perfect. Be real. Be you.

5.     Ask questions. You could ask questions on your FB page or fan page to get ideas. Say something like “What is your number one struggle in your business” and then plan your Lives around those answers. Find the need of the people and fill it with a simple solution. People want and need simplicity.

6.     Be positive on your FB Lives. No complaining or whining about anything. People do not want to follow someone who is a downer. They want to follow confidence and people who lift others up. They want to follow leaders who know where they are going. So put on some posture. It doesn’t usually come naturally to us. Personal development is key to building posture. Listening daily to at least 15 minutes will make a huge difference. A few of my favorites are Dani Johnson, Jim Rohn and Joseph McClendon.

Just Because You Can, Should You Really Work More Than One Network Marketing Business?

The answer is simple. No.

Now let me tell you why. First,  it is not easy to duplicate and it’s not simple. People need simple. They need to know that you believe in what you are doing enough to help them succeed. If you are jumping from one opportunity to the next (I’ve been guilty of this) or you are trying to promote more than one, you are showing them you are not 100% dedicated to either. I met a woman a few months ago who was in 16 network marketing companies. I asked her which ones shes was a member of and she had to pull out a notebook to tell me. She was in so many she couldn’t remember.

So, the next question I asked her was how successful they were. Her answer was that they were not at all. She was making a few dollars a month at each and a couple of them were making enough to get her own products free. This is an amateur and a 98% mentality folks. There is no dedication, no purpose, no roadmap for success. She went on to tell me that she has been in network marketing for 15 years and been in probably 40 businesses altogether. Again, I asked about success. Her answer, was “Oh well, I just dabble, not really trying to get any of them big, I just like doing it”. This converts to “I suck and am not consistent and don’t want to come out and say I am a complete failure in network marketing”.  That’s the truth. (I know because I have also said similar things when I was failing in a business)

I left feeling sorry for her, knowing that with all of those years and all of the different companies and training she has had from those companies, there is no reason she shouldn’t be at six figures. She told me she works retail because she loved it. I call complete and total bullshit on that. That is ego and pride talking and inconsistency.

Now this post is not to bash this lady, it is to show you the power of one business and the power of focus and consistency in that one business. One focus. One main opportunity. Now, that’s not saying you cannot have other streams of income, but to be really successful, all the experts will tell you that you need to focus on ONE network marketing company. Not only that, but you need to brand YOU. People buy who they are attracted to, people don’t buy products, they buy people.

So find that opportunity that fits you. If you do not have one yet, I would be honored to introduce you to what I do. If you are already in a business you love, don’t jump ship. If you are in multiple network marketing companies, pick one and get serious. Network Marketing is an amazing ways to make more than a full time income while working from home part time. If you are serious, you will get consistent and stay consistent in that one business you love and believe in.

Stop Vomiting Your Business Opportunity All Over Your Facebook Page

Now before anyone gets upset, because I know you have the BEST product in the world and all the world needs it, let me explain. This was me. I am talking to myself and to you. I was just as guilty as anyone else of posting at least a couple times a day all about my products. Even when I wasn’t specifically posting about them, I was somehow integrating them in, maybe in the background of my picture or a hashtag.

Cheesy. huh? Don’t judge me, most of you all do the same thing. And I get it, you are excited about your products or service and you want the world to know. But are we giving them too much too soon? Where’s the curiosity in that? People are nosy. If we give them all the details up front, they lose interest quicker.

So, what do we do? Well, the first step is to clean up your social media profiles. Delete much of the crap you’ve posted over the last year (or more) about how everyone should join, and how this product saved your lives and healed every disease in the world, and how there is no other opportunity like it, yada, yada, yada, blah, blah, blah. Stop it! It’s amateur at best and very annoying.

So, I was scrolling my Facebook a few weeks ago and started realizing how frustrating it is when everything I see on Facebook is someone’s sales pitch. Constantly as I scrolled down, I saw Oysters (What the hell is up with that anyway?) and I saw makeup, and jewelry parties, and leggings, and supplements, and shakes and everything in between. It got me thinking about how I basically have done the same thing for quite a while. And how annoying it must be to other people. Because all of those posts were driving me crazy.

Well honestly, I have known this for years. I have had the training multiple times from millionaires who teach you to brand yourself, to not come across salesy, to not spam people. For some reason, maybe my absolute stubborness and ego, that did not become perfectly clear to me until recently. Not too long ago I began some new training, and it is changing everything for my business.

I am learning to build MY business, which is me. We sell ourselves in business, not a product or service. “The product is people” I have heard my coach say over the years, but it really didn’t kick in until recently.  I’m a slow learner folks! And very stubborn. (Red Personality. LOL)

But I can tell you, once I started practicing that, people started coming to me. It’s called Attraction Marketing that all the gurus talk about. But I always thought it would be more difficult to brand me or honestly I felt like maybe I could never be that person who had that kind of influence. That 98%er mindset creeps back in like a ninja sometimes! But when I started taking those small steps, I started getting more interaction.

I have now been getting no less than 3 leads per day marketing me and not my company. I am learning more and more strategies and tips every day and will continue to grow as I learn and so will my business. This has been a game changer for me and my business. I will continue to grow and brand me and share with all of you.

So moral of the story is, no one wants to hear about your opportunity all the time! Make your posts meaningful, make your content valuable or at least interesting. and stop throwing up all over everyone’s news feeds, unless you want to get unfollowed or even unfriended. It’s your choice.

How to Handle Thanksgiving as a Home Business Owner

The holidays have come upon us quickly this year as always. Of course, the older I get, the faster it goes. Ugh. Grandma said this would happen. Leaves are gone, cold weather is kicking in, pumpkin and peppermint are in the air. November and December are interesting months because that’s when you learn who is really taking their Network Marketing business seriously. Every single time, 100% of those who aren’t serious always take the holidays off and forget why they joined their business in the first place. Is that you, friend?

The reason I ask is because I used to be that girl who said, “Well it’s a bad time of year.” “I’m too busy right now” “January is better because I can start fresh”. OMG, that makes me want to kick my own ass remembering how I used to do that and the failures I had because of that mindset. So I want to help you not fall into that excuse. Honestly, if you take the holiday season off, that simply means that your Network Marketing business is a hobby. Is that what you really want? A hobby? Or do you want a thriving business? That’s a question you have to look in the mirror and seriously assess and ask yourself.

I want to help you so you don’t have to learn the hard way like I did. So here are some  network marketing tips for you, especially now as the holidays are upon us.

  1. Don’t plan in advance in your head for your family Thanksgiving dinner to be a way to convince your extended family to buy your products or join your mlm. It’s cheesy and will leave a bad taste in their mouth that no amount of wine will rinse out. Don’t engage in conversations about your product unless asked and even then, keep it super short and simple. Don’t start shoving facts and product details down their throats. Instead, listen to what is going on in your family members’ lives and then plan on following up with them in a week or so. For example, if you are in health and wellness, this is a great opportunity to discover what their health issues are. Everyone seems to talk about what all is wrong with them when they are in a group of family. Or maybe that’s just my family. LOL. Maybe one of your family members just lost a job or perhaps just needs to make some extra money. These are great things to follow up with them LATER. Not at the dinner table. But for now, just listen.
  2. Don’t give your family and friends gifts from your MLM unless they have actually requested something. It comes off as a sales pitch and a way to promote your business. Don’t do it unless there is a way for you to hide that it is from your network marketing business. For example, if health and wellness is your type of business, you could make some homemade natural products to give away, but do not do the sales pitch of how good this lotion will be because of blah blah blah.

How Not to Look Like a Complete Rookie!

Alright, so the family is in from Wisconsin and Florida and it’s time to enjoy the carving of the turkey, so this would be the perfect time to pull out some products and your autoship deals and tell everyone all about how your business and products are the best of the best and there is no other like it, right?  OMG, NO!  PLEASE NO!!!! Serious rookie mistake.

You Can Do This, But Should You?

Alright, so let’s say that someone else brings it up. Aunt Myrtle asks about that little business you started and wants to know more. You can feel the heat rising up your body, you get stupidly excited because you are going to get a sale! You just know it! Why else would Aunt Myrtle ask if she didn’t want to sign up! And then if she does, Uncle Pete and Aunt Sally will want to and then everyone else at the table will. And by the end of dinner you will be a new rank and grow your income by over $1000 a month!!!

Now, back to reality. Breathe, let the heart rate come back down. Even if Aunt Myrtle asks and even wants you to do a short presentation, don’t do it! It is a recipe for disaster and will make your family feel awkward and pressured. And it will make you look like a complete and total idiot. It is not the time. Tell Aunt Myrtle you would love to talk to her more about it after the holidays are over and schedule a time to talk. Add it to your calendar and then stop. No more business talk.

How to Keep Your Cool and Stay Professional on Thanksgiving Day.

Here are a few suggestions for you to keep your cool during Thanksgiving dinner and maybe even attract new potential customers or clients. The problem with our family is that we think we can skip things like building rapport and finding their needs just because we think we already know them well enough. But this is usually far from the truth. Ask questions in a certain way, find their needs, listen and plan to follow up. Here are some thoughts:

  1. Listen for their need. Most people miss this important step. We already discussed how family will tell you all of their problems over the dinner table and all their life complaints. Take mental notes and just listen. Not with ulterior motives, but with sincerity.
  2. Now once you mentally log all these things, write them down once the dinner is done and family is gone. Write down the health conditions, the problems, the financial burdens, and everything else they talked about. Then call them after the holidays to follow up and remind them of their need and see if they are open to looking at what you have to offer. If you show that you cared enough to sincerely listen to them over dinner, they may just listen to you when you finally do call and follow up. Do not get upset if they don’t sign up. Some will, some won’t. It’s just how it is. Just be sincere and meet them where they are.
  3. Whatever you do, restrain yourself from the sales pitch. The urge may be strong but you have to resist. Don’t tell them how much they need it. You find their need by listening. And once you discover their need, you pitch it

With all that being said, I want to wish everyone a blessed Thanksgiving with all the yummy food and desserts you can handle. Remember to really be present and spend quality time together this week. If anyone needs me Thursday evening, I will be on a couch somewhere in a carb coma.
